Hi all,

I know of a chap who has been sold an Audya and does not have a PC,he is doomed, he was never told he would need to be computer literate whan he bought it. This chap is miles from a dealer he is stuffed. Why don't Ketron make upgrades like KORG you load it onto a stick and away you go. This chap could have is updates at least by post, in a day. This is the chap who as OS3 that's not been loaded on correctly, its locking up 5 times in one hour, he won't know about SZ cause he ain't got a PC, brillant!

What arranger could he buy where he WOULDN'T need to be computer literate? Surely he might want some new styles from time to time..? Gonna need a computer for that. Surely he would want to edit a style or two..? Gonna need a computer for that (with many arrangers). Surely he might need to reorganize his songbook, or add lyrics to a registration or SMF..? Gonna need a computer for that. Surely he'd like to come here to SZ and whine about the Audya crashing..?

Gonna need a computer for that!

Yes Diki your right, but the chap who sold him the Audya was an ex-car salesman, before that he was and Estate Agent and before that a disqualified Attorney, get my drift.
I was just thinking of the chap with the basics upgrades. He’s been sold an arranger that he didn’t need. I have a PA2x and an Audya and I could live the rest of my life out with the Korg and updating with a stick and still bang out a reasonable noise.
Your closing statement is correct, to vent his spleen on SZ he needs a PC or maybe a surrogate, I or we could bitch for him, only I don’t think he as a telephone, only joking Diki, steady on, one day at a time, a bit like Shawshank Redemption hey!
Now that where I’ve seen the hat!!!

Regards

Tony

Diki you seen this, if I have this operation I could live with the Audya, I could come off my 5 a day medication for high blood pressure. The Good Lord forgive I could be threading on SZ for another 40 yrs as well, be like Shawshank Redemption. Diki bet you have high BP come over for the operation it's all free in the UK, Oh it is now in the States.

Audya can be updated from a USB stick/storage device. Your friend can be sent the file (*.mem) on a thumb drive which they can then copy into the root directory of AUDYA's Hard Drive by simply plugging into one of the 2 USB jacks infront of the keyboard and performing the DISK - COPY or MOVE operation on the selected relevant file. All they have to do after this is turn AUDYA off and back on while holding down 'F10' and 'UNPLUGGED' buttons.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

AJ

It has nothing at all to do with him not being computer literate. He does not have a computer at all and this is quite common amongst elderly arranger users.

If you own a KORG and they issue a new OS update, they will actually post the thing to you if you ask them to.

James

AJ,

I don't want to make this too complex, if Audya was updated like PA2x then anyone who does not have a PC can get his pal or neighbor to load it onto a stick and wham, and he does need to contact the factory. Can you tell me why Korg do it their way which is slick, no long lead required no need to send the file to your desktop, no need to delete the old upgrade first, what’s all this about a test of computer skills and why do Ketron do it their way which is archaic. It’s out of the ark AJ get, if you have any pulling power please AJ talk to them the Korg method makes sense, it’s not patented.
Oh and BTW AJ do you think that Ketron would send out free upgrades to people who don’t have PC, perhaps when the numbers WW are low but when Audya hits the big time, no thank you, you bought it, we provide the updates now and then, we put them on WWW for you to download, that’s what they would say.
Tell me that Korg is the best way to upgrade or I am going round the bend!

Cheers AJ

PS was James right OS4 @ NAMM?

No offense, but he can afford a $5000 arranger, state of the art whizzbang wündermachine, and he can't afford a $400 laptop?

Perhaps, when he was looking at it, he might have asked 'What's the USB port for?' or 'how do I get new styles?' or 'how do I communicate with others who have one, too?'. All of which would have garnered the response 'with a computer'...

Got to learn to walk before you run... Old people seem to be the MOST concerned about saving money and taking their sweet time researching their purchases in the checkout lines at a supermarket Perhaps that degree of care and attention should have been used BEFORE he bought something that is little more than a computer with a keyboard attached. Personally, most of the elderly that I know are VERY into their computers, offering a cheap, easy way to communicate with their families, friends and interest groups...

Take this forum as example..!
